So I came home from work yesterday to a coughing husband.  We are now in self-isolation!   So far it's just a cough - but need to isolate to be sure - especially as he works for the ambulance service.

I have decided to blog our experiences.... if it gets boring I might stop - but in the future I think it will be interesting in particular for the children to look back on - we are living through history!

So a brief bit about us:  We are the Mathewsons.  We live in Oldmeldrum - a large village in rural Aberdeenshire.  Dad Pete works for the Ambulance Service, Mum Gillian is a Maths teacher, Heather(11) is in Primary 7 and Dugald(9) is in Primary 5 -we also have a 4 year old Labrador Bodie who on the one hand will love the whole family being together.... on the other we will not be having big long walks for a couple of weeks

The impact of this is starting to dawn:
  • Pete (hubby) is pretty much living in our bedroom - I'm sleeping on the sofabed in the den.
  • Kids not going back to school.... Heather is in P7 - so potentially today could have been her last day at primary - and will miss out on all of the celebrations that the transition from primary to secondary will bring.
  • I am a maths teacher, and had started bringing a few bits home in anticipation of working from home - but I left work yesterday expecting to be back today and tomorrow - and there is a whole host of things I now don't have, and don't have access to(!)
So day one - todays tasks are to setup the ability to fully work from home, and set up all my classes for remote working.... and amuse the kids!!!
